According to the text, smaller businesses can easily determine what types of training are more or less important to the company’s objectives and can design them accordingly (Blanchard & Thacker, 2013). I have worked for both large businesses and smaller, family-owned businesses. The types and styles of training can differ drastically. My current employer is a small business owner that has tailored his training methods to each of the employees based on their particular KSA’s. I prefer this type of training and it is unfortunate that many businesses can not do the same. It is not cost effective for large businesses to tailor make the training therefore a more formal approach is taken. I am excited to learn more about small business training throughout this course as my long-term goal is to own and operate my own business.
I am curious if any of my classmates own their own business and if they would have any insight into small business training and how it differs from large business training.
Respectfully,
Ronda B.
