Question1
Skinner’s theory of reinforcement provides the best knowledge on how psychologists can
assess the effectiveness of reinforcement. According to this theory, psychologists can assess the
effectiveness of reinforcement based on how behavior is repeated or stopped (Lauby &
American Society for Training and Development, 2005). There are various types of
reinforcement. However, positive reinforcement is likely to persist the longest ad yield long term
impacts. This is because positive reinforcement allows the parties involved to focus on the
positive aspects of a situation and enhances empowerment.
Question2
I understand learning as the process of acquiring new skills and ideas through
experience. Socialization or being taught (Bransford & National Research Council, 2004). There
are several skills that I have learned just because of associating with other people. For instance. I
believe I learned to play the guitar because associating with friends who used to play music in a
band. When we relocated to a new neighborhood, I became friends with two brothers who were
playing in a rock band. I was able to learn how to play the guitar from them.
Question3
There are different ways that I study for examination; for instance, I use the selfexplanation method, which involves explaining to myself and others what I have learned. I also
use practice testing method in which I repeatedly take a relevant test to confirm the level of my
knowledge. Finally, I have been using distributed practice method which involves study over a
long period (Winerman, 2019). Of all these methods I have realized that self-explanation is the
best method because as I explain what I have learned to others, they stick on my mind

Question 4
There are three basic systems of memory, including encoding storage and retrieval
(Byrne, 2009). Encoding is the process through which we upload information into our memory
which is through the senses. For example, we see and experience a situation such as accidents.
Once the information has been encoded, we have to retain it. Our brains take the information and
permanently record it. After the information has been stored, we can get it back from memory
through conscious awareness. This would be similar to finding a paper that had been previously
saved (Byrne, 2009).
